We were tasked by Ministry of International Trade & Industry to position Malaysia at the forefront of global islamic finance and a leader in the global islamic moderate movement. Malaysia still leads in terms of the number of sukuk issuance and financing amount at US$19.4bil (RM78.24bil), which is 38.7% of the global market share.

The World Islamic Economic Forum began from a modest beginning as the Organisation of Islamic Corporation (OIC) Business Forum, held on 15 October 2003 in conjunction with the tenth OIC Summit in Putrajaya, Malaysia. It was an occasion that brought together government leaders, captains of industry, academicians, regional experts, professionals and corporate managers to discuss opportunities for business partnerships in the Muslim world.

Amongst those who have attended WIEF include luminaries such as HRH Prince Charles, Prime Minister David Cameron, Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak and many more.
